FACILITATORS

Adrienne Agar
Writing for Wellness, Mindful Meditation, Women’s Support Group, Touched by Cancer Family & Friends Group

Adrienne, born and raised in Metro Detroit, currently resides in Clinton Township, MI. Adrienne recently graduated from Oakland University in May of 2015 where she earned her Bachelor of Social Work degree.

During her time at OU, she interned with Southwest Solutions, a mental health facility. There she worked hands-on in the community, providing mental health services to at-risk populations.

Her most recent volunteer experiences include Macomb County Rotating Emergency Shelter Team (MCREST), Common ground, and our very own, The Lake House.

Her family has been touched by cancer in many ways and feels it is simply fate that led her to find The Lake House. In Adrienne’s spare time she enjoys reading and writing poetry. However, her greatest passion in life is to travel and be immersed in new environments.
Barbara Bacyinski
Healing Arts

My name is Barbara Bacyinski and I have volunteered to teach various arts and crafts for The Lake House.

I have a Bachelor of Arts Degree with a major in Art from the University of Detroit and a Master of Arts Degree in Art Education from Northern Arizona University. I also have professional self-development at Wayne State University.

Most of my years of employment were at Fitzgerald Public Schools in Warren, Michigan. I taught art for grades 1 through 12, as well as a variety of other subjects. Previously, I volunteered at the Van Elslander Cancer Center and worked there for several years, helping patients with art projects, and assisting in various art exhibits.

At The Lake House I have assisted groups interested in making simple jewelry projects and watercolor painting. I also worked painting “The Lake House Lighthouse” found outside the building front. I am open to teaching other areas of art, where there is an interest.
